Bookkeeping comparisons

Small business bookkeeping services compared on price, close date and guarantees, read from each firm's own pricing page and dated.

These comparisons are for small business owners deciding who should do their books, and what it should cost. We read every price on the seller's own pricing page and give the date we read it. Each one links back to its source page, so you can check it yourself.

Price is the easy part to compare. So each comparison also records what most sellers leave off their pages: the day your books will be closed, how often they get a transaction wrong, what an "accuracy guarantee" actually covers, and what you pay per transaction. Where a page says nothing, we say "not published". We don't guess.

No one paid to be listed, and we didn't contact any of the firms. Prices change, so check the date on each row before you rely on it.

The first comparison prices six online bookkeeping services and two software plans. It also works out your first-year cost if you're behind, and lists the questions to ask any bookkeeper before you sign. More comparisons will follow: firms by industry, firm against firm, and Canadian firms.

If you'd rather do the work yourself, the guides cover the month-end close step by step.
